Trails of remembrance
A former political prison, a place of executions and the memory of the victims — the hardest but most important part of the Citadel.
Visiting
Treat the Citadel as a larger museum-and-park area: choose your museums, plan the walks between the gates, and leave time for the park and memorial sites.

For two museums and a walk, plan 3-4 hours. If you want to see all the main museums, cross the park and pause at the memorial sites, treat the visit as most of a day.
Tell us how much time you have, who you are with and what interests you — we will suggest a route.
Total approximate time: ~225 min

A visit to the Citadel pairs well with a walk around Zoliborz, one of Warsaw’s most relaxed neighbourhoods. Leave some time for the surroundings after your visit.
Zoliborz’s main square with an M1 metro station, cafés and a good starting point for a walk.

The boulevards and riverbanks are a short walk away — a good way to end the day outdoors.
