Gates and entrances

Zoliborz Gate

ul. Dyminska 13 — closest to Dworzec Gdanski metro (M1) and step-free. The most convenient main entrance from the Zoliborz side.

Execution Gate

The historic part of the Citadel and a memorial site, near the Tenth Pavilion.

Car park entrance

From Wybrzeze Gdynskie — leads to the underground car park beneath the museum complex.

Getting around the site

The Citadel covers a large area — the museums are some distance apart and entrances are on different sides. It is easiest to start from the Zoliborz Gate (closest to the metro) and leave the Execution Gate and the memorial sites for a calmer part of the visit.

An audio guide to the key stops. In this demo the narration is read by the browser’s speech synthesizer.

DEMO: in the field each stop would trigger automatically via GPS and play recorded narration, even offline. Here you pick a stop manually.

  1. Execution Gate

The Execution Gate is linked with executions on the Citadel slopes. It is a place of remembrance — pause here for a moment of reflection.

  2. The Tenth Pavilion

The Tenth Pavilion was a political prison. Many independence activists passed through it. Today it houses a museum.

  3. Polish History Museum

The Polish History Museum tells a thousand years of the nation’s history. Its observation deck offers a panorama of the Citadel.

  4. Polish Army Museum

The Polish Army Museum presents Polish arms: tanks, aircraft and artillery — outdoors and in the galleries.

  5. Katyń Museum

The Katyń Museum commemorates the victims of the Katyń massacre. It is a place of reflection; admission is free.
