Spring
Museum Night (mid-May) — free evening visits to several museums in one place. The busiest date of the year.
Events
The Citadel also runs a calendar of events: Museum Night, temporary exhibitions and outdoor programmes. Here are the regular fixtures and how to plan around them.

The Citadel has its own calendar: the spring Museum Night is the high point, in summer the site lives mainly through its park, and in the colder months attention moves indoors — to temporary exhibitions and educational events.
Museum Night (mid-May) — free evening visits to several museums in one place. The busiest date of the year.
The season for walks in the park: fountains, a playground and a rest area. A good time for a lighter, family visit.
Temporary exhibitions and educational events in the museums — a quieter time to see the interiors without crowds.
Museum Night takes place every year in mid-May. It is one of the most popular dates at the Citadel — in the evening and at night the museums stay open late and entry is free, so you can see several exhibitions in one place.
It is also the busiest date of the year. Come early, expect queues and decide the order of museums in advance, starting with the one that interests you most.
Beyond Museum Night, the Citadel runs a year-round programme: temporary exhibitions at the Polish History Museum and the Polish Army Museum, educational events and family walks in the park. Until the Polish History Museum’s permanent exhibition opens (planned for 2027), the temporary exhibitions are the main reason to visit.
On event days, getting there and parking can be harder — choose public transport and the Zoliborz Gate. If you plan to see several museums in one day, set the order in advance and leave a buffer for the walks between buildings.
